In March 2008 Lance Fletcher, an Australian Thalidomide survivor, with encouragement from his wife Lesley Fletcher and Ms Kali Wilde, an English Thalidomide Survivor, organised a conference in Sydney Australia, which was attended by survivors and their families from Australia, New Zealand, United Kingdom, Germany, Japan, Austria & Norway.
Part of the event was to form a support network where Thalidomide Survivors and people with Thalidomide-like deformities could provide information, advice, friendship and emotional support for each other.
So on Saturday the 29th March 2008 with the election of a management committee Thalidomide Australasia Incorporated was officially formed.
In June 2008 Thalidomide Australasia Incorporated was renamed Thalidomide Australia Incorporated
